Hotel Taverna Ago

This is a great basic little hotel and Tavern/Restaurant about 1 1/2 miles outside of downtown Berat Albania. My wife and I spent 3 night at this hotel. The rooms are clean and new, you can get a king bed if available which is not easily found in this part of rural Europe. The bathroom is a bit small but manageable. Only down side in the bathroom (not a big deal) does not not have shower curtains. For some reason most rural hotels in Albania don't have shower curtains. The room is cleaned everyday and is fresh and clean. The A/C actually works and keeps the room cool even when it is in the mid 90'sF outside. The hotel has dependable free WIFI. We were able to run 2 devises at the same time. Each floor has its independent wifi so the signal is good. Breakfast was included in the rate each day. Price was around $28 US depending on the exchange rate. They also accept Visa and Master Cards. The Tavern which is down the hill has a great atmosphere and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We did breakfast (included) and dinner one of our 3 nights in the area. At night the Tavern is full with locals and other tourist that are in the area. They even put a movie projector in the front of the outdoor seating and play music videos. They also have a nice little playground where kids can play when you eat and have drinks. See the photos of our stay. I highly recommend Hotel Taverna Ago. Even though it a little outside of Berat you can get around by taxi which are so cheap. Cost of the taxi was an average of $3 to $5 depending on where you were going in the area. All the staff are very helpful and even if you don't speak Albania they try to figure things out and make your experience a good one.
