The hotel does not have elevator, but that is not a problem because the hotel itself is very nice. The room was very quiet and comfortable. The people in the front desk were very nice.

Really good value for money. The rooms and bedding are a little bit tired but they are kept very clean with daily housekeeping. Breakfast can be missed. Great location near to the Zocalo, fantastic hot showers and the man who works at night is very nice.

A clean, very well-located budget hotel. Lovely service at the front desk, parking down the street (but free). Sparse breakfast, but also free. Good internet connection. They could use new linens (rather threadbare), but otherwise we had serious complaints about the hotel.

Fantastic. Free brek with delicious butter! Near the Zocalo and walking distance to everything. Very helpful and friendly front desk staff gave great advice and directions. You will love this place.

This hotel is a good deal for the cheap price. It's extremely close to the zocalo (the center square) and it's safe. It's a little worn, but clean. There was hot water all the time (trust me, that doesn't always happen in Mexico) and drinking water was available in water coolers out in the halls. The staff were very helpful and answered all our questions about the area. They brought extra blankets to our room when we asked, and the room was cleaned every day. The "breakfast" was just toast with butter and jam, coffee, and juice. Overall it's a great value - clean, friendly staff, and great location for a low price. I'll definitely stay there again if I go back to Puebla :)

Extremely cheap. Good service. Clean Room. One block away from the zocalo. I wouldve payed doubel the price and still be very satisfied.

Stayed one night in Puebla and got a bargain room here. The location was ideal given I didn't have long there - only one block from the main square making it easy to just dump my bags and head out to explore. Plenty of restaurants, shops and bars in the surrounding streets. The room (interior - quieter) was spacious and comfortable, simply furnished and decorated in a rustic style. Bathroom had good water pressure and hot water. No English TV channels but not important for 1 night and at that price. Good wifi and even a simple breakfast the next morning. Nice staff, who managed to cope with my only basic Spanish! The hotel asks guests to be quiet after 9pm, so I got a great night's sleep.Great price for for a central stay.

Very basic. The hot water in the morning shower would diminish since everyone else was taking a shower. This is a good inexpensive hotel when you just need one or two nights to rest up on a trip going home or else where. Free breakfast in only coffee and toast, juice, and don't take another toast ! They watch you. Location is wonderful !!! You are right near the main plaza and there is a great bakery across the street. The Location from the bus terminal is only about 10-15 minutes. Nothing fancy, but you will get a good night's rest, at least.

Great location and price

BASIC, BUT BEARABLE !!

A comfortable, clean and the most central inexpensive place to stay and sleep in downtown Puebla. Located one block and only a minutes walk from the Zocalo and central Puebla, Hotel De Talavera is perfect.

Room:
Perfect size, clean, comfortable bed (pillows need renewing!), plenty of space for luggage, has a clothes rack (need coat hangers though!, a small work desk, TV, bedside table with power outlets, 2 mirrors just to check your style before heading out for the day, large bench top to store all your daily stuff.However, as I've found with most most Mexico hotel in the cities- no external window to the outside world even though there is windows- its usually into a courtyard, stairwell, or internal corridor- this didn't bother me much.
Spacious room with all that you need!

Bathroom:
Is exactly what you need- hot water (water pressure is acceptable but not super strong), free towels daily and a good enough sink and mirror to do daily grooming. Soap is provided.

Location:
Is perfect and a minute from downtown. Xoxo and 7-11 convenience store right out the front. Safe and pretty neighbourhood. Plenty of shopping and quality eateries at your doorstep. Also have free parking.

Wifi:
Is strong and has two options. Fast and reliable.

Staff:
Generally very nice, warm and welcoming - especially the "afternoon/evening guy:- Asus is friendly, helpful and always offers  smile and advice (in spanish), the night guy is great and the "day lady: could smile more but I'm sure she has a lovely side to her aswell!

Other stuff:
Free water is available 24/7 from the water dispensers so you can fill up whenever you need. The hotel is staffed 24 hours a day and is safe, secure and clean.

For a very low price of $410 Peso for a double room- you can't go wrong!

Perfect option right in downtown

Great location for half the price of the 'posh' hotels you can see from your window! This was perfect for me: right by the Zocolo, but affordable, clean and with helpful staff. Yes, everything is a bit basic, but evrything works and is all you need if you want to be out and about in Puebla for much of the day and then have a pleasant place to sleep afterwards. A little Spanish with some staff is useful, but some speak English too. All staff were very helpful with directions, calling taxis, helping me book another night, etc.

Clean and practical

The hotel was in a great location just round the corner from the main plaza. The manager was really friendly and helpful - it is true what other reviewers have said that you need a paper copy of your booking which we have never experienced before, but they explained this was because of conning tourists trying to pull a fast one so fair enough! Also true that breakfast was only coffee, juice and toastbreads, but for the price and location, c´mon what do you expect! And we didnt have any noise problems while we were there and slept really well. Only one adverse comment is that the linen could do with renewing as was grey and torn, but was clean. Much better than we expected overall.

Great value, friendly staff :)

Great location within walking distance of the zocalo and around many older buildings and cathedrals. The people at the front desk were nice. The one guy spoke pretty good English, the lady did not but she was patient and helpful. They keep both your car keys and your hotel key at the front desk whenever you aren't using them, which seems kind of weird but there was never a problem when I needed the keys back. Parking is free which is great because there isn't a lot of parking in this historic area. This is an older hotel, so don't expect a lot. The wifi can be good some days, other times you have to stand on the stair right next to the box and still can't keep connected. The water takes a very long time to get hot. There is a lot of noise from the other rooms. The bed is very hard. However, the amenities are adequate especially for the price.

Great location, decent hotel

Got a great price on Hotels.com - 150 pesos less than listed at the hotel. We were 4 people, 2 double beds in each room. We found the people very pleasant, the bed comfortable, the wifi excellent and the rooms very clean. Even had a bathtub. We had the front rooms 111 and 113 but there was not much noise. One block from the zocolo, safe parking.

a great find in centro Puebla

We knew that the hotel would not be fancy. What we wanted was a great location for walking to various sites at a low enough price that we could afford to dine well. This hotel was exactly right for what we wanted - only a block and a half from the main square. Fabian at the desk was very accomodating and helpful. There was no elevator, but we had good help with our luggage. The room was barebones but clean and had shelves for clothing plus 2 desks with chairs. Thank you Hotels.com.
