It’s a bit of a hike from the town - although a short cab journey - but I wouldn’t stay anywhere else if I visited again. I had planned to stay three nights at Forte de Sao Francisco, but was so disappointed with it, I ended up switching here. And it was a gamble that paid off. Gorgeous, huge room - modern and clean, with a properly stocked minibar, spectacular bathroom, spacious balcony and beautiful views. I had a room at the back overlooking the mountains, which was wonderful in daylight but a bit lost in the dark. If you want an interesting nighttime vista, probably best to stay in a room at the front with views of the city in the distance – at least you’d get some twinkling lights. Two fabulous pools, good breakfast and just the loveliest staff. And set in expansive, picturesque grounds that could surely be turned into a golf course – much needed in these parts and bound to attract more guests. Overall, a great escape!
