a&o Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof

Ok firstly we have been staying at this hotel about 9 years usually twice a year for one night at a time for a business stay over before heading to Dortmund. Have given this a 5 star review but there's good and bad but I have to be fair. Firstly - the lifts are shocking, tiny and questionable if it works. But upgrading them this summer I believe. Outside the front, looks like a dump and usually messy but mostly that is Dusseldorf and the area. So inside and the main reception area, staff always friendly. Place is very warm and most importantly, beer is cold and the place is very clean. Rooms - outside of advertising the stay as ' experience staying in a room like a prison but being able to leave the next day'. Get past the metal beds and small bathrooms, the experience here is the beds. Beds are very comfortable, can't beat an A+O pillow and bed cover. Have had some of the nicest sleeps away from home in an A+O. Is it the place to bring the wife or girlfriend who likes the finer things in life and hotels, not unless you want a divorce but if your looking for a budget stay, very clean and very comfortable then A+O is a great spot. I'm sure those into the spicy side will find the metal beds handy 🤣 but for 4 of us on a business stay over, stayed this time for 1 night, €72 all in.
