Salmakis Resort & Spa

This hotel is one of the best for its rating (4* on Jet2) that we have stayed in over many years. I do not understand the negative reviews that it has attracted, they certainly do not reflect our experience of this hotel. The hotel itself is not ultra modern, more traditional Turkish, which is nice, (some areas could do with a bit of a refresh). The hotel is probably not good for the less able person as it is on a hill and there are steps and slopes to negotiate. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful, those that were less so probably were shy or did not understand our language but I did not feel that it was rudeness. The food was delicious and varied but was mostly of a Turkish nature (what would you expect in Turkey ?). The drinks were very good with good measures and in proper glass glasses except at the pool and beach where it was in plastic for obvious reasons. Our room was very large and kept clean, we had to call maintenance a couple of times due to a faulty lock and they attended immediately. As for the negative reviews about the pool, I can only think that these people were there at an unfortunate moment in time, I always saw it as impeccably clean and also the pool area was completely washed most evenings, there is a digital monitor by the bar giving a constant update of the ph. and cl. levels in the pool. I could write many more positives about this hotel (and maybe a few minor niggles), but one notable negative for me, was the disco in the evening, the music was not to my taste, always hip-hop type genre, no variety and a bit loud, so had to find to a quieter area (usually the lounge area inside or outside with a great view). Needless to say I would not hesitate to return to Salmakis hotel and would advise to ignore these naysayers.
