Everything you read in the reviews is true — the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro is modern, spotless, and staffed by genuinely friendly people. The hotel itself is stunning, set right on the beach, but what truly sets it apart is its location. It’s about 40 minutes from Ipanema, and that’s actually one of its best features. If you’re looking for a quiet, safe stretch of sand with far fewer beach vendors, this is the place. We felt perfectly comfortable taking Ubers at night to Leblon or Ipanema for dinner and nightlife, then returning to the peaceful luxury of the hotel. If it’s your first time in Rio and you want to be in the middle of the action, this may not be the ideal base. But for a second visit — or if your priority is a modern, clean, and relaxing beachfront escape — you’ll be happy you found it. You can enjoy the buzz of the city when you want it and retreat to your own calm paradise when you don’t.
