Travelodge by Wyndham Lumberton

I had an excellent experience during my stay here.  No complaints at all.  Staff was very nice and helpful.  The rooms are a nice size and were very clean.  Cheapest price in the area and located right of the interstate

The motel still has the Deluxe Inn sign rather than Travelodge, which it claims to be a member of, although that may change in the future.  It is an old motel, but the room was clean and most everything worked..  Oddly, the switch on one of the side lamps didn't turn it off, but it could be unplugged easily, and there was a floor lamp on that side of the bed whose foot switch did work.  The tv had many channels.  The small refrigerator was functional.  The water for the shower was not very hot, but was warm enough to be ok.  The staff was friendly and helpful.  The swimming pool had no water in it (late June, 2023).  This is a reasonable choice for an overnight on the way up or down the East Coast.  Lumberton has lots of motels and restaurants.  The Golden Corral has a good buffet.

Another nothing fancy hotel but the. I am not paying top dollar for a place to sleep. Tv, microwave, refrigerator in room. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I really prefer their laminate flooring over the questionable carpet you find in many places. Perfect place after a long day of travel.

Ok for the Night

Excellent stay

We weren't expecting much when we stopped for the night as this place was about the cheapest in the area  All we wanted was a clean bed.- and the first impression was quite good.  Room was free of mustiness or smelly cleaning products.  The worst I could say about the place was that the infrastructure was obviously old and in need of an upgrade.  The bathroom tiles were clean but some were cracked and the grout had been patched over crudely in a few places..The sink handles needed replacing - the worked but looked bad.  The bed wasn't the best, but it was firm.  On the positive side, the carpet looked reasonably clean, and the wooden furniture was so shiny it looked wet.  The bed decor made a stab at modern with standing pillows.  My son said his room was outstanding for the price.

Good option for an inexpensive overnight

This place, honestly, should be shut down ASAP! I'm not easily shaken, but after opening the door to the room they gave us, I was DONE! It was a complete nightmare! How on earth could they feel that comfortable renting rooms here? Broken lamps, stained sheets, not to mention it appeared as if someone had just gotten out of the beds. The curtains were off track, the sink area was falling apart and the tub had so many stains that could be nothing more than a germ trap. The tile was patched together. It looked like a toodler tried to repair it and paint it. I just couldn't believe it. We immediately reported the condition of the room and the management "apologized" then escorted us to another room. She ( management) could hardly get the door opened. That was a reg flag. The 2nd room was a joke as well. We left our bags and began looking for another hotel, and THANK GOD we did. The Travelodge in Lumberton is an absolute disgrace, an insult to your intelligence and a serious health risk. 
Save yourself the anger of their balant 
disregard for your comfort, health and intelligence. Run as fast as you can. My biggest regret is that I didn't take pictures.

I Can't Believe This Place is in Operation!

I had to give them at least one star to post this, because trust me that’s being generous…. The very first night here should have been our que to leave. Our kids were taken showers and the front desk lady came and asked if we were getting showers as to which I answered yes. She was like oh we are gonna have to move y’all because your shower is leaking to the room below you. (Mind you this is like 1000 pm). So we pack everything back up and move to a different room. Then we moved to the next room ok, it’s a tad bit bigger, this should work out fine. The very first time we use the toilet, it clogs. I go down to the front desk and say hey the toilet is clogged, can we get another room or can we get this fixed?  Oh yea not a problem. They never fixed it or moved us to another room. Then they wanted to charge us more because their employee upgraded our room. The manager told me it would be 75 and change, to which I said ok(had over 80) on that card it declined, when I asked her how much she ran it for, she demanded we leave, yet would not let us in to the room we were in to get our belongings to include medicine and our dog until we called the police… the pictures don’t do this place any justice, it’s completely ran down and trashed. How the city hasn’t shut them down yet is beyond me….

Stay away from this place…

Stranded in Lumberton during Hurricane Florence in September 2018, we were forced to find accommodations during a torrential downpour at the end of dusk.  

This is the place that we found that was open.  In pouring rain, I stood in a line behind two other travelers to endure their check-in process (at least there was a cover of the area of the walk-up window to check in.  The lobby door was locked).  

A sign at the check-in window stated "NO REFUNDS."  (Travelers:  be wary when you see that sign.  Also, travelers be wary when you see that the swimming pool has not been maintained).  Because of the hurricane, we were charged $77 for the room per night.  (probably some price-gouging because of the storm).

The carpet was the oldest, nastiest, matted material that I have ever seen.  Yes, my shoes did stick to it.  

The next day, I wanted to find a vending machine for a Pepsi, and a bucket of ice. The breezeways were empty with the concrete ceiling crumbling and moldy.  Yes, there were signs indicating "Ice-Vending" still hanging from overhead (even though one sign's hook had rusted away and was hanging at a 45 degree angle, pointing to an empty breezeway.  

Ice could to be obtained by walking to the office walk-up window.  They would then tell you to meet them at the lobby door which they would then unlock for a moment to hand you a small bag of ice that had been stored in a freezer for some time.  

With portions of I-95 flooded, it was not possible to get back home the next day, we had to stay one more night  I did use this day to explore Lumberton to see what else was available in accommodations.  I found a much nicer Motel 6 to move to for our third night for $60 a night.  Travelers, again, I stress, look at how they maintain their pool.  The Motel 6 had crystal clear water in their pool.  

Of course, we checked out of the Deluxe Inn and moved to the much nicer Motel 6 for our final night in Lumberton.

It is very perplexing to me that Wyndham continues to gobble old brand names, such as Travelodge, Howard Johnson's. Ramada, Day's Inn from yesteryear.  Then, under their direction these old brand names will appear on such substandard properties like the Deluxe Inn in Lumberton.

Wyndham, please let these old brand names die in dignity,  and quit trying to destroy the positive memories of our youth.

Yes, I could provide you with photographs of this experience, but I hate this place and would never consider staying here again.

Wyndham, figure it out!  Quit being stupid!



Wyndham, relax your aggression in this industry.  Work on your quality, not your quantity.

DELUXE INN LUMBERTON, NC 

After driving from Florida to rest at North Carolina, we came across this place. You get what you pay. 

What a $hit hole of a place. NO SMOKING MY ASS! There were cockroaches all over the place. No toilet paper, no bath towels. The beds were unmade. It should be called COME & GO. There were urine stains all over the unmade bed. As  we checked in, we GTFO FAST. Thank God for the rest area because that is where we slept for the few hours in the car, on our way to NY.

STAY FAR AWAY

I really dont get how this place is still open. It should be demolished ASAP. The staff had terrible attitudes. She seemed to be HIGH on something. Which each employee I encountered seems to be on some sort of DRUG. She had an attitude the entire check in process. When I asked to speak to her manager she proceed to tell me all there were was her OWNERS. Being a owner and you have a UNHAPPY customer you shouldn't be sleep if you ask me. Your customers come first but to them as long as their money is flowing they seem to not care. The rooms are covered in black mold n roaches. And I mean LOADS of them!! There was NO HEAT!!! The smell in the room was like a sewer system. Not to mention they claim to have no air fresher. Someone really needs to do something about this place.

TEAR THIS PLACE DOWN/Hasn't been inspected since 2017

How this place is still open is beyond my comprehension. If you look at the Google reviews you’ll notice they have halted sharing photos. I’m posting everywhere I can, because this place is DISGUSTING!
The front desk lady was super friendly. After I walked in the first room I immediately called her back. The pillow cases were filthy, there was no fitted sheet and the bed was barely made. I walked a little bit further to find cockroaches still moving on the floor. It’s smelled of pesticides, mold and stale cigarettes. 
I stated this was nothing as the pictures online and the total filth of the room. My feet were even sticking to the floor. She asked me to come back to the front desk where she gave me a key to look at 3 other rooms. (Pictures are a mixture of all rooms) 
She advised me that 2 of them were king beds and that I would have to pay $10 more to stay in the king bed rooms 🤣
I checked them all disgusting, missing drawers, filthy linens, pealing paint and walls, crawling and black mold, dirty mirrors, one didn’t even have a window, there was plywood in its place. The dumpsters outside were over flowing with garbage. Large construction sized dumpsters. 
As I left the rooms to return my key and ask for a refund, which she did oblige, she asked if shingles was contagious because one of the guests who lived there just called and told her she had them 🤦🏼‍♀️
Stay away, buy a sleeping bag and a pillow and sleep in your car if all else fails. 
Who knows what you’ll get attempting to stay there, I can guarantee it won’t be a good nights sleep.
