Hotel Gracery Shinjuku

Absolutely amazing hotel 10/10, we couldn’t have chose a better hotel to stay at during our 11 nights in Tokyo. Will 100% stay again. Firstly, the hotel concierge was sooo helpful, with many things. 2 months before our reservation, I had contacted the hotel to see if they could assist with booking a reservation at a Michelin star restaurant in Ginza as we were struggling to book from the UK without a credit card and Japanese number. The hotel only asked for a screenshot of our bank card and that we fill in a form to confirm our details and that was it! They securely booked our reservation and we were so happy as we were celebrating a special occasion and really wanted to visit this particular Michelin star restaurant! Secondly, the hotel concierge again helped us with our room requests, I had requested a room on a high floor as we love a good view and wanted nothing more than to see beautiful Shinjuku all lit up at night and that’s exactly what we got, we was based on the 21st floor and the view was amazing! Thirdly, the hotel concierge was again amazing with assisting us with our luggage forwarding. They filled out all of the form for us, rang the arrival place to confirm our booking and to confirm the address and they advised us on the whole process. Our luggage had to be dropped off at the front desk by 12pm on the day before our check-out and it was then delivered to our next hotel in Kyoto before check-in at 3pm the next day. Furthermore, we’ve never watched Godzilla, we purely booked this hotel for its amazing location, it is central to everything which is perfect. It’s a 10 minute walk to Shinjuku Station, if not less. It is known as the entertainment district, there’s a particular club right behind called WARP, highly recommend and literally right across from the hotel. Yes, the area has a lot of drunk people particularly at night and early hours of the morning, but they’re all pretty much asleep or just chilling right behind the hotel, it just shows how safe the area is. They literally sleep on the floor, phone/wallet next to them, knowing they aren’t going to be robbed which is comforting. So while some people may think this is a dangerous area, it really isn’t. There are also a lot of touts in this area, but they don’t bother you, just simply say “no thank you” and they leave you alone. It can get very messy late at night/early in the morning, but the street cleaners do an amazing job of tidying it up and making sure everything is clean again. On the ground floor of the hotel, there is a 7/11 which is super convenient, KFC, Krispy Kreme and Lawsons across the road. There’s also tonnes of Family Mart, 7/11 and Lawsons just dotted around nearby too. You really cannot go wrong with this hotel and its location. On to the room, yes it is very small. However, we appreciated the fact that we aren’t in Tokyo to spend all day in the hotel room and it doesn’t matter if it’s a small room and plus we’ve heard it’s hard to find a big room in a place like Tokyo anyway. While it was small, we still thought it was great. It had a mini-fridge which can get pretty cold, it also had amazing air-con (this was one of our must haves when booking) and the bathroom was just gorgeous, the bath tub is huge and is in a separate room to the toilet/sink which I thought was pretty cool. There was also an ice machine and a vending machine on the same floor too. The only thing is we relied on Uber quite a lot and we couldn’t get them to pick us up from the hotel drop-off area, only local taxis was allowed to do that. But it wasn’t too much of an inconvenience. All in all, I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys the night-life scene or anyone looking to stay in a perfect location and near to Shibuya (only 2 stops on the subway and only around 20 minutes from hotel to Shibuya crossing). Not only that but we will 100% be returning as we got engaged whilst staying at this hotel on a day-trip to Hakone, which again I would 100% recommend.
